Recently a customer asked on my Facebook Live about her hair being dry and how she could address that. I know that she already has a nice selection of Urbanbella products at home so I dove right in with questions about her hair routine. If I know you have the right products I can just focus on how you are using them.
I asked a series of questions to determine what might be missing and we landed at the first problem...not cleansing and conditioning often enough. Particularly for her porosity level.
I am laying out for you the check-points you want to review if you are experiencing dry natural hair. These are in order and you should complete each step or improve your process or products for each section.
Skipping ot No.3 does not matter if No.1 has not been done 100% as listed below.
So let's get going...
Step 1 - Are you using Urbanbella Product exclusively?
I know. I know. Of course I am saying you need to have all Urbanbella products. But it's true. The moisture level that my system delivers is just higher quality. Most of your dry hair issues start here. If you are mixing my collection with other brands then you are limiting your results. Here's a challenge. Tell me below a product you are using that you think is helping you or you just have to have. If you are reading this article then clearly it ain't gettin' the job done. I have spoken to many customers over the years and if dryness was ever an issue for them they are honest and say "I was still using product X" or I also tried product Z.
You need to give Urbanbella 90 Day Straight. Nothing else. No other brands. That's a true test of a brand. This step alone is going to dramatically change your results.
Step 2 - Are you washing your hair weekly?
Wash and Condition your hair Every Single Week with your Urbanbella Product System. Consistency is key with getting your natural hair on track. Washing it weekly provides your hair with the hydration that is depleted by natural elements. By washing weekly your are going to build hydration from water and moisture from your products. Over the past 18 years we have learned that many customers who are not getting the results they want are not washing their hair often enough. Let's rule our this problem for you. Go ahead and use your Urbanbella System every week.
Step 3 - Are you steaming weekly?
Steam your hair every week. It's worth the investment to have a steamer at home. I know they can be pricey but they provide the ultimate boost in moisture. And using it weekly will build the elasticity that your hair needs. You will see the secondary benefits of more shine and your style will last longer also.
If getting a steamer is not in the plans right now then definitely use a heat cap. Here's the benefit: heat increases the moisturizing benefits of both Coconut Oil and Silk Amino Acids. These are key ingredients I use to buld moisture and hydration in your hair. I like these ingredients because they work well past your wash day. You see the benefits of these items for weeks.
Step 4 - Are you Moisturizing After Styling?
After Styling apply No. 9 and No.23 or Neat Moisturizer. Using this blend together will give you moisture that you need to last all week. Moisture is built in layers and this is the last step. I have noticed over time that by letting your hair fully dry and then mixing a blend of these two products in your hand (then scrunch onto your curls) really seals in the moisture and shine.
Step 5 - Are you Sleeping on Silk or Satin?
Thou Shalt not lay thy head on Cotton. Make sure you sleep with your hair in a Silk on Satin Bonnet or on a Silk or Satin Pillowcase. This will keep your hair from drying out while you are sleeping. It also helps to hold your style in place.
