Yes, Your Wash-N-Go Should Last 7+ Days...
As the Urbanbella Tribe continues to grow I get to learn more and more about our real challenges with textured hair. One challenge that seems to keep coming up is getting our hair styles to last longer. I am finding that most new tribe members are getting styles that last 1-2 days. So let's just take a second and talk about how exactly The Urbanbella Tribe can get our styles to last 1-2 weeks and sometimes even 3 weeks and still look great!
Use quality products
You have to start here. If you don't have a product that really gives you great results then the other steps don't matter. And you need a quality system from cleanser to styling products. You have to have enough hold, hydration and moisture all rolled into one. That's a tall order but it can be done with a better quality hair care system which will save you both time and money. Yes, you will pay more than $9.99 for it -- but you will use it less and the condition of your hair will be signigicantly better. Let's look at where your hair care products help or hurt your goals of having styles last.
- Quality products improve the condition of your hair. When that happens you styles last longer.
- Cheaper products don't provide ingredients that help your hair to maintain moisture - they are mostly filled with just water and wax -two ingredients that don't deliver hydrated and moisturized hair.
- Understand that textured hair can naturally give the impression that it's dry because it's not smooth --but that's not the sign of dry hair. By "condition of your hair" we mean your moisture and hydration level. Hair in poor condition is very difficult to define and show it's best curl. You hair will be more defined and look polished with a better hair care system.
- Your Hair Gels will help with both style, hydration and moisture
- Cheaper products don't have enough hold -- so you have to do your hair again the next day - something that we don't do in the Urbanbella Tribe. We do it again in about a week or two.
What You Need to Get the Condition Right
Using a cleanser and conditioner that get your moisture level right really set the tone for your experience as a woman (or man) wearing your hair textured. The No.7 Non-Lather Cleanser and No.4 Hydrating Conditioner are going to get your natural hair in it's best condition and keep it there. Sometimes you need a Moisture Boost - No.14 Organic Coconut Cream Repair Mask will do the trick and do it FAST and with the added bonus of giving you more shine.
Use the right products
So last fall I introduced Babassu Oil to the Tribe in the Fall Experience and we were all really impressed with the results on our hair. This oil is great for our hair because it is a medium weight oil that is high in lauric and myristic acid that penetrates the hair shaft to strengthen, condition, and repair. It can penetrate the hair shaft and reduce protein loss. All good stuff for us. Babassu oil is also rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, and other nutrients that help to improve shine, softness, health and growth of the hair.
So when you use the Urbanbella Babassu Conditioner and Babassu Moisturizer or Hydrating Twisting Lotion your style is shinier and your hair style last longer. The fatty acids found in Babassu oil helps your hair retain moisture so it can stay hydrated longer. I love using this oil! It just makes my hair look better and my Wash-N-Go last for two weeks!
So to land my plane...when you choose the Babassu Items from the Collection you are helping your style last longer.
In addition, you want to make sure you are choosing styling products to set your hair. You want to work with styling gels because they have hold and make a style last.
Setting your hair with moisturizer is only going to allow that to last a few days. A Wash-n-Go styled with a moisturizer is not going to last a full day on most naturals. A Twist out - it may last 2 days tops. So be sure to select hair gels to get it to last. And the beautiful thing - Urbanbella Gels are botanical so they are more flexible and are not drying to the hair.
Sit Under a hood dry vs Air dry
I know you have probably hear me say this a 1000 times. But it's true. Once you have styled your hair---No wait. While you are styling your hair turn on your hood dryer. This means it is hot and ready to go once you have completed your styling. Go head and get your magazines, ear covers (if you wear it short and tapered) and snacks ready before you style. Go right under your hot dryer after you set your hair. This will allow you to to capture your hair in it's most polished state - it's smooth, stretched out and air has not started to puff it out.
Be sure to fully dry from root to ends. If you need to gently blow air on one or two sections with your blow dryer after that's fine but you need to only do this in one of two small areas that are difficult for your dryer to get to. Because let's be honest all dryers have cool spots.

You are right about the dryer Keneesha, and I will definitely be setting up before I need to be under the hood so I can get the best look. I lov all of Urbanbella products. When I follow the program especially washing my hair no less than every 2 weeks
I have consistently beautiful hydrated wash n go’s. I experienced hair growth and super definition but for the first time in a long time in my natural hair journey (13 years) my hair is not DRY. I have a little deficit now because of winter, color, and not washing weekly or biweekly, but using the coconut hair mask is getting me back on track
